No Quarter: Basic Rules
A downloadable game
For those who want a game that leans more into “Black Sails” than “Pirates of the Caribbean.”
The chassis is a d20 roll under system hacked from the first edition of the famous Arthurian TTRPG, repurposed for the Golden Age of piracy.
In this basic ruleset, you get 40 pages of (almost) art free, cleanly laid out rules and guidelines for play that covers character creation in 8 easy steps, skills, traits, combat, sample bad guys/NPCs with stat blocks, ships and crew rules, and the “port phase,” where your characters improve, gain notoriety for their deeds, carouse, refit your ship, adjust skills and traits and potentially experience “fair wind” or “vile luck.”
The built in “Traits” and “Agony and Ardor” systems altered from the original game’s inspiration allow for high drama as characters act in accord with their best and worst qualities - this is also very valuable for the solo player.
Updates, adjustments and improvements are planned for this basic ruleset, and a full, expanded and art heavy “Compleat Rules” is on the way, which will include GM advice for running the game, an “At Sea” game loop with charts and tables, and more options for everything plus a sandbox: Nelson’s Blood.
Nelson’s Blood is a fictional port town in the Bahamas, complete with factions, ships and crews, and plenty of action and drama to power your campaign.

If I purchase these basic rules, will they be upgraded automatically to the full expanded version once it's out? Or would the expanded version be it's own separate purchase?
these are just the basic rules. They will get errata and possibly another file if I make enough edits.
The full version is likely to be at least another 20+ pages and has artwork commissioned from other artists and myself and will be a separate product.
It will be at least a few months or more.
Great stuff as always. Hyped to try this out!
Hell yeah! Can’t wait for the art-full version!
